Senior Center Shooting Suspect Arraigned

A 66-year-old man has been arraigned in the fatal shootings of two women at a Detroit home for senior citizens.

Mike Reda (REE-‘duh) is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and other felonies. He was arraigned Wednesday.

Reda was arrested after the Sunday slayings of 59-year-old Deborah Socia and 61-year-old Maria Gonzalez at the Pablo Davis Elder Living Center. He also lived there.

Court documents say Reda had an assault rifle when he broke into an apartment were the victims were gathered.

Authorities say they were friends of a woman who recently ended a relationship with Reda, and he believed the breakup was their fault.

A judge entered a not-guilty plea Wednesday. The preliminary examination is Oct. 31.

Reda didn’t have an attorney and was ordered held without bond.
