It is not surprising that some people think about what they are going to do next once they retire and settle down for good. Most of them are looking for things that can ignite their passion on life and go on to pursue their “Second Act”.

Yinon Weiss, a retired Army Special Forces officer and Harvard Business School graduate, is one of the many boomers pursuing their Second Act. His Second Act is unique than others though, as he helps others in pursuing their next act. Andy Asher has had the chance to talk with him and ask him about his “Rally Point” program.

“The idea for Rally Point came after I left active duty”, explains Yinon. “Rally Point was created for two purposes: one was to help those who have left the military or are in different parts of the military stay connected with their friends and their colleagues and also to help them professionally as they transition either to different jobs in the military or to civilian life afterwards”, he continues.

When asked why Yinon focuses on retired military personnel, he explains that military personnel are usually not knowledgeable on how private sectors work. Majority of them, Yinon explains, do not know how to apply for a job or even write a resume in the first place. Rally Point is there to help them with these problems, as they have connections with employers who would like to work with retired military personnel, as they believe that they are more driven and more motivated than other people.

Yinon’s program not only helps retired military personnel to pursue their Second Act, but it also helps other retirees to find their Second Act. Rally Point is partnered with many employers worldwide, and they find employers that are well suited for their skill-sets. They can also help find people who have the same interests and have them share their knowledge and experience and vice versa.

Rally Point is extremely easy to use; just go to the website at rallypoint.com or download the smart phone app for both iPhone / iPad and Android devices on their respective app stores. You will need to supply them with some information regarding your military background, your experience, and some basic personal information. Once done, the program will automatically find you other people and employers that have the skill-sets they need.
