Happy 66th birthday, Arnold. Schwarzenegger has his own day in Orlando Saturday

While Schwarzenegger’s birthday is actually Wednesday, he will be 66, the big birthday bash will be held Saturday.

Arnold Day is the product of two former University of Central Florida students who enjoyed getting together and watching Schwarzenegger films in a marathon and drink beer. The 10th annual event is now a much bigger deal, at the Lazy Moon bar in Orlando, near the UCF campus. There is still beer to be drunk and movies to be watched, but the event also raises money for Schwarzenegger’s favorite charity, and the faint hope that maybe, just maybe, the Arn man will put in a personal appearance.

This year’s film line up includes Total Recall, Conan the Barbarian, True Lies,  The Terminator, Predator, The Running Man and one of his latest films, Sabotage.

Admission to the Lazy Moon (11551 University Blvd.) is free and the event kicks off at noon and continues until 2 a.m.

From the Arnold Day X website: “Contrary to belief, Arnold Day is not a “fanboy” convention. It is a celebration of a figure that spans many generations and platforms. We drink, we eat, and we hang out – all in the presence of the great Arnold Schwarzenegger. Expect Arnold quotes, costumes and of course birthday cakes. A selected list of Arnold classics will be showing on the big screen with audio (one right after the other) all day long. Worried your favorite Arnold movie won’t make the cut – relax… because we have two other TVs looping other Arnold favorites all day long.”

According to the website, more than $11,000 has been raised thus far for The After-School All-Stars,  a program that helps keep kids safe after school is out, as well as educate and promote student well-being.
You can find out about donations to the cause at the website, arnoldday.com. If you donate $50 or more, you can qualify to receive Arnold Day merchandise including the official Arnold Day X T-Shirt. Larger donations mean more bonus extras such as poster art, two tickets to see The Expendables 3 film and more.
The hope is the more money raised for the Schwarzenegger charity, the better the chance the actor/governor will sit up and take notice and make a surprise appearance.
