We receive thousands of mixed messages throughout our lives on what is “healthy.” So it should come as no surprise that most of us are completely confused when it comes to what constitutes something as being “good for us.” These mixed messages arise as a result of a number of things including incorrect information spread by word of mouth and heavily funded food-based advertising campaigns.

Just think of the health related headlines you’ve seen lately. From the rise and fall of soy, to the ongoing debates over meat products, to the protein scare of veganism, to the grain, dairy and refined-sugar battle, to calorie-counting low-fat diets, “quick-fix” detoxes and other latest fads, we’ve heard it all.

Sadly, the cost of not knowing what we should be eating to stay healthy is becoming more expensive. Each year in the U.S. alone, we spend over $140 billion on obesity-related conditions; conditions that are often a result of poor-life choices. The good news is we have the ability to change this. It’s never too late to change your lifestyle and adopt good habits that promote a long and healthy life. We all should take steps today to improve the quality of our life tomorrow.

Most people are quick to disregard cleanses because most cleanses eliminate virtually all foods, leave participants hungry and malnourished. We’re here to tell you there is a smarter approach to rejuvenating your health—in just 30 days!

Instead of depriving yourself of food, nourish your body with the food it was designed to eat. By eating a diet of natural, unprocessed, chemical free and hormone free foods, we feed our cells well and are directly contributing to our own long-term health. What we choose to place in our body today has an enormous impact on how our body treats us today, tomorrow and in the future.

We began our journey to health by doing a 30-Day Paleo Cleanse and it worked wonders for us, which is why we transitioned into the Paleo Diet lifestyle full-time. It’s also why we were inspired to share our journey with you and wrote the book, PALEO Cleanse: 30 Days of Ancestral Eating to Detox, Drop Pounds, Supercharge Your Health and Transition Into a Primal Lifestyle, published by Ulysses Press.

Many people mistakenly label the Paleo Diet as a mere detox or fad diet but truthfully it is not. The Paleo Diet is a way of eating that began with our ancestors and which supports our natural digestive functions.

The effects of the Paleo Diet on the body range from noticeable external improvements to internal health benefits that may not be obvious at first, but could mean the difference between health and disease in immediate years to come.

From blood sugar stabilization, diminished cravings and improved sleep to migraine relief, the Paleo Diet helps individuals achieve relief from these symptoms and many more. We urge you to think about what you are eating, what your food has been fed and where your produce comes from. Choose well, eat well and you will live well.

PALEO Cleanse is authored by Camilla Carboni and Melissa Van Dover, founders of The Paleo Pact, and is available for pre-order on Amazon before October 27, 2014 at a 26% discount.
